COVID-19: Managed Tenant Advice

With increasing reports of confirmed Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases across the UK, we are taking additional measures to ensure the safety of you, our employees and contractors.

We’ll be keeping this page updated as well as our General Tenant Advice page as guidance comes through from the Government. Please check these pages regularly as we won’t be able to answer general questions individually.

All our staff are now working from home so it’s business as usual, however due to the significant reduction in calls and enquiries at this time we’ll be reducing staff hours. eMail contact is preferrable, but we’ll still be on the phones if you need to call about anything specific.

Keeping us all safe

We urge you to follow the advice being given by Government and the NHS. You can read the latest advice from the NHS here.

A new Statute was passed yesterday and came into immediate effect in England which forbids anyone leaving the place where they are living “without reasonable excuse”.

If your landlord or a contractor is due to attend your home for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible if you:

  • Have a high temperature or a new, continuous cough
  • Have tested positive for COVID-19, or has been in contact with someone who has tested positive
  • Consider yourself to be in a higher risk group
  • Are self-isolating

Maintenance

In line with the prevailing Government advice, we will be cancelling all non-urgent maintenance appointments.

You should continue to report all maintenance issues as normal, however, please be advised that there may be a delay in these being acted upon.

Emergencies will continue to be dealt with immediately, taking all possible safety precautions if access to your home is required.

Inspections

All mid-term inspections are currently on hold until further notice.

Safety Certificates

Landlords have a legal duty to repair and maintain gas pipework, flues and appliances in a safe condition, to ensure an annual gas safety check on each appliance and flue, and to keep a record of each safety check.

Government guidance at this time is that wherever possible these safety checks should continue in order to keep you safe.

If you can not allow access due to the reasons given above, please let us know as soon as possible.

Rent

Your rent is due as normal. If you are concerned about your ability to meet your rent payments, please contact us BEFORE your rent is due.

There are certain things you can do to ensure a steady flow of income and the government is keeping this page up to date. Please investigate all avenues on there as there may be financial assistance available to you.

Assistance is also being provided to employers by the Government and grants may be available to ensure you keep a significant amount of your income while you’re not working. Please make sure you have a conversation with your HR representative.

If your work situation has changed, you may be eligible to claim some help from the Government. You can check what you are entitled to by clicking here.

Please remember, most landlords will be in a similar situation with their employment being affected as well.
